“Inside / Outside” by Serge Chermayeff. 1949. From an estate in Eastham, MA, on Cape Cod where he painted, designed houses and built houses along with other famous architects, designers, painters, and artists in the pre and post WW2 era. See “Cape Cod Modern” by Peter McMahon. Rescued from a garage work bench. Obtained from the original owner, a 70 year resident of the Cape, who obtained it directly from the artist. Framed in a plexiglass and cardboard frame. Very good condition. Measures 20″ x 16″. Signed, titled and dated in pencil. Noted associates at the time were Marcel Breuer, Walter Gropius, Nathaniel Saltonstall, Arshile Gorky, Gyorgy Kepes, Olav Hammarstrom, Eliel Saarinen, Eero Saarinen, Paul Wiedlinger, Charles Gwarthmey.
