Sold – Rare Knoll Desk

SOLD   –  Very Rare Desk by Knoll. Early 1950’s manufacture. This came from the Seagrams building in NYC. Possibly Mies van der Rohe or Poul Kjearholm. The construction looks more like Kjearholm. Stainless Steel frame with ebonized oak double banks of drawers, Top is an oilcloth cover. Size is substantial at 72″ x 36″ x 31″. It is heavy and very well made. There are two small tears to the oilcloth at the corners that can be reglued. There are a few small veneer chips. There is one file drawer on each side. Approximate weight is 170 lbs. Unique example of early knoll custom work. This was part of an office suite with a similar credenza which has sold, and a office chair which has also sold. This is the only example of this form we have seen. Florence Knoll was the interior designer for many of the offices. This is likely a custom piece.
